Meet Our Physical Therapists



Jeffrey Blake – Jeff graduated from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology. He followed up with a degree in Physical Therapy with an emphasis in orthopaedics and sports rehabilitation, also from CSUN. In 1993, Jeff started his first private practice within the Manhattan Beach Athletic Club for Women. As Jeff’s patient population grew, he relocated his business and opened Blake Physical Therapy in Santa Monica in 1996. At that location, he assisted Fitness America by performing biofeedback testing on athletes using the Reebok Rehabilitation Bike, which is used in clinics across the country as well as professional athletic teams. In 2003, he opened a second Blake Physical Therapy clinic in Marina del Rey. Jeff continues to hire staff with exceptional qualities and experience that value and enhance the treatment philosophy he has created within his practice. Jeff’s patients include professional athletes, as well as professional dancers. Outside of the office, Jeff enjoys fly fishing, cycling, skeet shooting and spending time with his family.

Nicole Bowlin – Nicole graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She continued her education at The Ohio State University earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, with specializations in research and early intervention. Nicole has worked in many different settings including inpatient, outpatient and home health with a variety of patient populations, including orthopedic and neurologic. She is currently working toward a manual therapy certification with NAIOMT. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys running with her dog Oakley, pilates, yoga, and scuba diving.

Evan Brahce – Evan graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, minoring in exercise and health science. He went on to graduate from California State University, Sacramento with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT). Evan is currently studying to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and plans to pursue continuing education in Functional Movement Systems and the McKenzie method in the coming years. In his free time, he enjoys a variety of outdoor sports, specifically snowboarding and water sports.

John Joe – John graduated from Florida International University in Miami, Florida in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. While in Miami, he practiced at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Mount Sinai Medical Center. He received special training in a number of areas including spinal cord injuries, hand therapy, amputees and stroke rehabilitation. In 1982, John moved to Pasadena, California taking the position of senior physical therapist of the Medical Surgical unit at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He later accepted a position as out-patient supervisor at Saint John’s Hospital of Santa Monica. Prior to joining Blake Physical Therapy in 2002, John spent 10 years as a clinician and director of an orthopaedic and sports medicine private practice in Beverly Hills. Outside of the office, John’s hobbies include snow skiing, martial arts and weight training, and he also enjoys the finer things in life, such as traveling, fine foods and fine arts.

Terese Smith – Terese received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 1991, having completed her undergraduate studies in education at Montana State University. Since 1991, Terese has specialized in out-patient orthopaedic therapy with a focus on the spine and neck. In addition to her education as a physical therapist, Terese is also a certified Pilates instructor through Long Beach Dance and Conditioning. She has been a Pilates instructor since 2003 and integrates Pilates into her practice. She joined Blake Physical Therapy in 2007 a Terese is currently working towards an honorary degree in veterinary science through the in-home care administered to her two cats, one dog, and one bird.

Jessica Sison – Jessica graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience. She participated in neurology research at UCLA, specifically projects involving Parkinson’s and Huntington’s Diseases, for three years before moving to Florida and earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from University of Miami in 2006. Jessica first focused on neurorehabilitation, primarily traumatic brain injury and stroke, and was previously a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) before working with the geriatric population in several skilled nursing facilities. She has spent the past few years in orthopaedics and joined Blake Physical Therapy in late 2015. Jessica is an avid runner and has completed 10 half-marathons and 7 full marathons in addition to playing dodgeball in multiple leagues throughout Los Angeles.
