Meet Our Pilates Instructor

Teresa Wenke – Teresa Wenke has been teaching Pilates for over 40 years. She first discovered Pilates when she was receiving treatment for a dance injury that she had suffered. Teresa fell in love with Pilates after seeing how effective her treatment was, and she went on to master her certification with over 600 hours of training. Pilates not only helps the body heal, but it aides in making the body stronger while helping with coordination, balance and flexibility. Personally, Teresa believes that the benefits of Pilates are: healing injuries, core strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, improved posture and a sense of empowerment and overall well-being.

Joseph Pilates developed his training technique more than 70 years ago that combined precise, concentrated movements while using the mind to focus upon the body’s position during travel in space. With Pilates, there is emphasis on breathing along with concentrated movements in order to help one’s posture and spinal alignment, while relieving stress and tension. Today, physical therapists with advanced Pilate’s skills are able to create a specialized form of rehabilitation by combining their therapeutic training and knowledge of human anatomy with the Pilates training technique. At Blake Physical Therapy, we provide the best of both worlds to help you achieve your maximum physical potential. We also incorporate traditional physical therapy treatment and modalities in conjunction with Pilates for optimal results. Through a combination of bodywork and Pilates, one can achieve optimum flexibility, core strength and posture with improving bio-mechanical function and alignment.
